Moisture Under the Cape-

English 原文
Moist fabric brushed against Nell’s wrist as she shifted a spare cape on the waiting-seat arm. From inside the folded cloth came a crisp chirp, followed by the tiny splash of webbed toes landing on vinyl; a bright green tree frog now clung to the seat edge. Blow-dryers drummed overhead, scissors tapped like quick rain, and a receptionist’s phone rang in uneven bursts. Across the salon, water hissed through the two occupied basins, the fixed thirty-minute rhythm already slipping while Nell’s own slot crept closer. A stylist’s gentle laughter mixed with the buzz of clippers as someone explained the hairstyle planned for an afternoon wedding.
The frog sprang down, landing near a faint rivulet that trickled from one basin toward a floor drain. Each hop set off small slaps against the tiles, and its path skidded on the thin stream. Nell crouched; the hum of air vents muffled her shoes against the floor. A surplus crate of rinsed styling-gel containers rattled under the counter. She lifted one light bottle, its plastic walls giving a soft crinkle. With slow taps of her finger on the rim, she guided the frog forward; the creature answered with another sharp chirp and slipped inside. Standing, Nell noticed a glass box beside the product shelf—leafy stems trembled behind the pane, yet only damp moss filled the foreground. The missing occupant of that terrarium now sat in her improvised carrier.
One basin finally fell quiet, its tap shutting with a hollow thunk. Nell set the bottle on a towel and waited while her hair was washed; water rushed over porcelain, and fresh shampoo foamed in steady swirls. When her turn at the mirror station finished, she carried the bottle back to the glass enclosure. A stylist slid the top panel aside; Nell tipped the bottle, and the frog tapped onto the moss. A thin ring of moisture spread on the counter beneath the bottle’s base.
