The Cup That Drained the Dispenser-

English 原文
"The basket keeps sliding," Quinn muttered.
He pressed both knees together, locking the small wicker tray against his thighs while warm air from a nearby blow-dryer skimmed his shins. A wrapped muffin wobbled inside the basket, and a magazine open on the low table showed colourful diagrams of weather patterns that fluttered whenever a dryer switched on. Quinn’s parent leafed through the pages, shoulders dipping into a padded chair that formed a quiet zone of comfort around their back. Behind the reception counter, the appointment had been written earlier inside the thick book, and his name had been printed on a narrow card. Quinn steadied his shoes on the tiled floor, then rose to fetch water from the dispenser across the styling floor. He reached out, guiding the basket to the table, but a stylist swung a dryer cord across the aisle and clipped his ankle, sending him back to his seat.
Moisture from newly washed hair dripped onto the path while he waited; the basins remained busy, and cables still curved along the floor like loose ropes. Quinn watched the rhythm of arms, elbows, and tools, searching for a calmer beat. When two stylists leaned toward their mirrors at the same moment, the cords lifted clear, and he moved again. This time he held the basket steady against his ribs, angled one foot around a stray cape corner, and timed a quick sidestep between rolling stool wheels. The shift in sequence shortened each stride but kept his balance firm; no cable brushed his shoes. At the dispenser he slid a paper cup free, tilted the lever, and a thin stream flowed. The jug inside the machine grumbled, volume lowering with every second, yet he waited rather than pump the lever twice, letting gravity work.
The cup brimmed just as the final trickle left the spout; a soft hollow echo followed, and the empty reservoir reflected the salon lights like a quiet, overturned bell.
