Twig in the Cascade-

English 原文
Tamsin flipped her sketch-notebook open and pressed its rough cardboard back against her knee while a brief handshake with her companion, Corbin, ended in a playful squeeze of fingers. They sat on the sunny bench arc where the stone felt warm and slightly gritty through thin trousers. Coins at the bottom of the fountain glittered, but her goal lay above them: she wanted the tumbling sheets of water drawn before the next crowd from the nearby marketplace drifted through. A row of pigeons waited on the shaded rim; their claws tapped on the damp edge, each bird shifting weight from one cold foot to the other. She had filled two pages with loose outlines already, yet the glare bouncing off the top cascade flattened every curve, so she raised one hand like a small awning and traced quickly, the soft page bending under the light breeze.
The glare eased for a moment, then the pump shifted and the flow thinned; details sharpened, but the interval would vanish soon. Acting like a careful explorer mapping coastline, Tamsin sprang up and strode toward the fountain rim for a closer angle. Her sudden motion startled the nearest pigeon; the bird burst upward, its wings brushing a second pigeon that lost balance and kicked a dry twig from the warm side of the rim into the middle basin. The twig spun, struck the falling sheet, and threw a thin, cold fan of spray outward. Tiny drops spotted the page before the drawing smeared, yet Tamsin jerked the notebook away, holding it above shoulder height. Mist cooled her arm, but the graphite lines survived. The twig drifted aside, water regained its heavier course, and the pigeons regrouped farther along the slippery stone, their bodies settling into quieter hops. Corbin’s camera clicked from the bench, but he said nothing; the plaza rhythm continued without pause. A faint rustle of wings drifted across the plaza.
