What shines on the water?
Winter walks beside the pond.
The air carries fresh cut grass.
A small sand castle leans.
Warmth from sun softens edges.
Near the hedge, a loose net sags.
Light wind lifts the squares.
The child softly whispers.
"I see a fish."
Bright strands flash then settle.
Winter turns back to the castle.
One wall slides gently inward.
A raven flaps over the bench.
Its shadow brushes the soft rampart.
High on the oak, an owl figure tilts.
Young leaves press its wooden wings.
The water now shows brighter sparkles.
