A small leaf spins on water. Finn kneels beside the stream. He spots a bright pebble there. He reaches toward the pebble. Cold water covers his hand. The current slides the pebble deeper. Finn pauses and scans the bank. A rough carton drifts past him. He lifts a forked stick. He nudges the carton aside. A dozen tiny shells now appear. Light flashes on their smooth sides. Finn hooks the bright pebble. He lifts it from water. A loud voice calls, "Nice find!" Finn turns and waves across water. The grown-up smiles and writes. The pebble rests cool and still.
