Clean laundry smell drifts beside Clara's bed. Morning light fills the small bedroom. Dust specks drift. She grabs a white paper square. She folds one corner toward the center. She folds again and again. Sharp creases form a tight star. A hall voice says, "Morning, Clara." She pulls each layer out like petals. A paper flower slowly opens.

The folded base springs open. Clara presses it flat. It springs again. She grabs clear tape. She seals the base with one strip. The strip seals the fold. She sets the flower on the rug. She makes the rabbit jump beside it. The window glass warms. A sunbeam slides across the fresh purple petals.
