English 原文
Sheltering behind a weathered bench, Warren watched the bubble station from a slight distance, sunlight striping his arms through nearby leaves. At the trough, Oona lifted a wide string rig, dipped it, then waited while a single drip marked each returning beat of the rhythm. Barefoot twins tried to wrangle a dragon-shaped wand nearby, their tugging shoulders swaying with the cadence while a shaggy dog lumbered through loose glittering orbs. The bench under Warren’s elbow carried a dark knot, a small wooden grievance against years of rain, its grain raised like ridged cartilage.
After several pulses, Warren stepped forward, chose a narrow loop wand, and let the steady dripping set the tempo inside his wrist. The film sealed the ring with a faint snap, its surface silver at first yet holding latent greens and violets just beneath the shimmer. He drew it through the air too quickly; the membrane collapsed, scattering cold droplets across his forearm and leaving him blinking at the empty loop. Oona glanced over, her voice low and steady, "Wind shifted again," before returning to her own rig without another look. Warren waited through the next four drips, sensing the unrealised potential inside each unbroken film, then lowered the wand to the solution once more.
On the following downbeat he raised the wand so slowly that the film had time to settle, breathing in and out with the dripping cadence. It ballooned forward, a transparent curtain swelling into a sphere, and Warren stepped backward in equal increments, matching each stride to the patient count of seconds. The free-floating bubble drifted toward a sapling, nudged a twig, stretched into an oval around the wood, and slipped away before bursting three beats later. A soft chorus of gasps and laughter rose from the children, then faded, leaving only the resumed pulse of drips against the wooden tabletop.
Warren returned to the bench, resting the wand across his palms, and the familiar knot now glimmered beneath a bead of lingering solution. The droplet caught inverted images of trees and sky, turning the former blemish into a tiny lens, while the bench’s grain darkened around the wet circle. Behind him the trough no longer kept exact time; gaps stretched between taps, a hesitant stutter that signalled how much solution the afternoon had consumed. Faint sunlight slipped across his sleeves, the glassy bead quivered once on the bench, and the next uneven tap arrived, softer than all before.
