English 原文
The glass had fogged again as Sam slid the bouquet onto the bright wrap counter by the tissue rolls. Light pooled over the smooth paper, while ribbon spools cast narrow bands of shade that crossed the wrapping mat. A soft jingle came from the door, and dimmer air from outside slid along the floor near the display. Near the entrance, Sam’s parent read greeting cards, each small envelope flashing a brief gleam whenever a page turned. Sam planned a neat wrap for the school gallery reception, with paintings on easels and a simple banquet table. They made a quick tally by tapping each flower head, then pulled a top sheet and squared the bouquet. Under the bright glare, the paper looked sound, yet it split along a dull crease as they folded. "Oh," they said. "It keeps ripping."
They drew a new sheet and turned it ninety degrees, smoothing slower so the shine spread wide before folding. The edge still opened, but less, and the tear feathered near their thumb under the counter’s sharp light. A thin hiss rose above the display buckets, and a bright cloud hung there, catching along invisible threads in air. From the refrigerated door, left a finger wide, cold breath slid out and thickened the window to a dull film. Droplets gathered on the tissue roll’s rim; up close, tiny points of light winked along the softened crease. They slid the roll back and lifted from a drier inner layer, then folded with lighter hands at a shallower angle. The florist passed with a vase, pressed the door until the seal clicked, and the cold draft eased from the tiles. This time the wrap held; a tiny notch hid under the ribbon’s shadow as the bouquet turned in their palms. At the entrance, the brass bell took the movement from the opening door and began a slow, even swing. Its dark arc crossed the bright doorway, back and forth above the frame.
