English 原文
A pale ring on the sandbox rim showed where the blue bucket had sat. Kay stepped closer and swept the wooden edge with his hand to check. Dry grains slid off like powder, and no bucket lip pressed against his fingers. He spotted it half-buried near the rope net, its blue faded to sky-grey. He tugged it free, then packed it with the pale top layer of sand. The bucket stuck when he flipped it, and a small snag rubbed his thumb. He lifted anyway; the shape slumped and crumbled into a low, uneven hill. When he scooped near the far corner, colder, darker grains clung and weighed his palm.
He left the sandbox and crossed the blue rubber, feet sinking with a faint bounce. At the fountain, his thumb pressed the stiff button and a thin arc sprang up. He bent to drink; the stream ran lukewarm and stopped the instant he lifted. "Too quick for a sip," Kay said, pressing again and counting under his breath. The drain grate shivered under his sandal, and cool specks dotted his knees. Beyond, the renowned slide threw a narrow shine across the mat. Near the shade, a parent sketched quietly; graphite caught light on the page's edge. He climbed the ladder to the platform; each step rang soft and silver. A small queue formed, and the pace slowed when a toddler paused at the top. Kay stepped aside, slid down the warm platform edge, and headed along the fence. By the sandbox, Barrett shaped a low mound; darker clumps held on the small spade.
At the wooden rim, the blue bucket sat near the corner Barrett had been shaping. Kay paused beside it, sandy wrists pale against the slate shade of the bench. He filled from that darker layer, pressed the bucket down, and packed the sides. He waited one breath, tapped twice along the rim, then lifted in a slow arc. A clean cylinder stood, edges neat, small ridges catching a bluish shadow. Nearby, that vintage sieve glittered dull silver, grains sliding through like fine rain. A magpie landed on the fence, tilted its head, and flicked a pebble to the mat. Chains clanked at the swings, and the bird hopped along the steel rail.
