English 原文
Winter pressed the ink stick in slow circles, the stone staying cool against his palm while the contact end warmed from the steady grind.
Cleo angled the paper under the skylight, where the fibers looked faintly raised from earlier practice and tugged at any loaded hair that touched down.
He dipped the tapered brush, felt its balance shift in his fingers, and drew forward, only to leave a round nucleus blooming at the first pause.
The mark widened under extra pressure, then thinned as his wrist lifted, a serpentine path that carried an unintended pool where it began.
He tried to smooth that start by moving faster, but the paper pulled differently with each breath, and his shoulder stalled mid-arc.
Cleo steadied a curling corner with her flat palm and watched the wet edge darken while the drier center stayed pale.
Skylight warmed the far edge; the inkstone in the corner held its chill, and the room seemed to balance those two temperatures on his skin.
He set the brush down and rubbed a trace of damp from his thumb, then stepped away from the desk without saying more.
By the window, a miniature yarrow waited in a low clay pot, its lacey leaves cool to the touch and dusted with a fine mist from yesterday.
Winter tipped a small watering bulb; water beaded along the rim, lingered against the colder ceramic, and then rolled, leaving a clean curve on the terracotta.
A bright drop broke loose and tapped the table; both pairs of hands moved at once, sliding the fresh sheets aside.
Cleo dabbed the damp trace with a cloth and set the pot on a coaster, then held the cloth a moment longer against the cool clay.
Winter’s thumb ran a slow circle along the rim he had just wet, the motion already traveling through his wrist before his eyes chased it.
His other hand lifted, hovered over the brush, and traced the same curve in the air without touching the hairs.
Cleo rotated the sheet a finger’s width, flattened the faint buckle with her warm palm, and breathed out, her shoulders settling into his quiet tempo.
They hovered there together, ready to orchestrate contact and release so the stroke began in motion rather than a fixed pool.
Nothing moved yet; the brush tip held a rounded glint, the inkstone kept its shadowed chill, and weak steam ghosted from the cloth where Cleo had pressed.
Winter’s arm hung light, his grip open, the path of the rim still alive along his thumb, and the paper lay bright under the skylight.
A thin draft slid across their wrists, cooler near the window, and the loaded hairs trembled, then returned to a single point.
