Ripples Cross the River’s Second Sky -

English 原文
Neve set her boots wide in the flat-bottomed boat and worked the guide rope in a steady rhythm.
Her palms closed, slid, and reopened, each pull carrying the hull along the underground river like a slow breath.
Ahead, the vaulted chamber gathered itself, and the first blue-green points lifted from the ceiling as if morning stars had nested underground.
Ursula balanced near the bow, one knee bent, a hand resting on the gunwale where condensation turned the wood slick.
Neve counted the brighter patches without looking down, her neck tilted back, her mind sorting them like known stops on a route.
The ceiling read like an archive of this place, blue hunger in firm clusters and dimmer smudges where digestion worked unseen.
Silk threads hung in thick curtains between clusters, droplet beads winking calmly, and the threads swung a finger’s width when the air shifted.
Neve reached for the rope again, feeling the wet braid abrade her skin, and the boat answered with a small surge then a settled glide.
A drip fell from a slender cusp and touched the river with a single chime, and tight rings ran outward toward the limestone bank.
She kept the cadence anyway, mapping bright to bright, expecting the river beneath to mirror the counts she tallied above.
Instead, the reflection thickened and thinned on its own timetable, an aquarium turned upside down where a second sky drifted with the current.
Another drip landed farther off, the rings crossed and tangled the glow into wavering threads, and her hands stopped mid-pull without plan or announcement.
Her fingertip pressed the rope and held there, a small quandary between tug and stillness, while Ursula’s sleeve brushed the gunwale and left a darker streak.
The guide rope went slack for three handspans as the hull nosed from a still patch into faint current, and the bow stalled slightly toward the right.
Overhead, a hairline fissure in a pale stalactite gleamed with moisture, and the next droplet formed slowly, wider than a grain of rice.
The silk ladders nearest the passage swayed off-beat, while deeper bands barely stirred, two metronomes set to different rooms inside the same stone.
Neve let the rope rest against her knuckles and looked straight down, to see what the water kept and what it blurred.
The ceiling held steady in its cold light, and the mirror below reassembled it into moving bands, a page turning slowly under glass and refusing a single reading.
She breathed out, her grip loosened, and the boat drifted half a body’s length, the glow sliding across her skin like soft chalk dust.
Ursula’s weight shifted to the other foot, the hull corrected, and the slack gathered into a light tension that neither pushed nor pulled.
Neve trailed three fingers in the water, reading the current’s slow oscillation through the ripple around her hand and the stitch of cool along her wrist.
The chime came again from the fissure’s lip, and the rings walked through the second sky, untying the path she had traced a moment before.
She stayed with the pause, not counting, while blue points hung above and their twins shivered below, and the boat rested quiet against the wet rope.
