Fiona smells salt on stick.
Warm light glows across wet sand.
She kneels near bright driftwood.
Soft thought hangs in warm air.
She presses sand with flat stick.
She piles soft sand high.
Each grain drops then stays.
She pats sides again and again.
The shape starts to rise tall.
It stands like an elephant now.
Water runs and soft corners drop.
One part slips to the side.
Fiona scoops wetter sand from pool.
She packs it around loose part.
The wall holds strong and smooth.
Gemma watches from the tide pool.
Gemma says, "It stands!"
A light breeze shakes dry foam.
Footprints circle the sand elephant.
A small crab visits the sculpture.
