Milo at Midday Market-

English 原文
A bright day painted the riverside market with sharp shadows and drifting music. Milo had planned a short break from his internship, hoping to grab a bite before afternoon meetings pulled him back. Rumor said a tiny food stall near the bridge served dumplings filled with mint-scented vegetables, and the thought of that fragrant parcel already warmed his fingertips. The path between striped tents narrowed as more visitors streamed in, and the air mixed bamboo smoke with fried ginger. He pictured the lunch as a wonderful experience worth a brief wait, so his pace quickened toward the rising column of steam.
The first obstacle appeared immediately: the queue curled twice around a bucket drummer, forcing Milo to circle wooden crates just to locate its end. Had he arrived earlier, he would have slipped into the line unnoticed, but now elbows and shopping bags pressed his ribs every few seconds. Ten minutes later the drummer’s stick flew loose, skittering beneath feet, and half the queue shuffled sideways; the disturbance scattered Milo’s coins across the pavement. While he knelt to collect them, two pushcarts rolled forward, erasing his position. By the time he reached the counter again, the last batch of dumplings had been wrapped by hand and lowered into a battered pot, yet the lid refused to close, rattling against a bent hinge.
The vendor’s apron brushed Milo’s sleeve as she struggled with the stuck lid. Without exchanging words, he steadied the pot while she adjusted the hinge with a wooden spoon handle. The quick cooperation shortened the wait, and the smooth rhythm of serving trays seemed to boost morale among the restless customers. A moment later the vendor slipped an extra dumpling onto his paper plate, nodding once before turning to the next order. Steam rested over the wooden counter.
