When the Rabbits Ran-

English 原文
Mia carried a small basket toward the farm pond. She planned to harvest early beans before lunchtime. Soft morning light rested on the calm water. A stranger leaned on the wooden fence and waved. He smiled and said he was only visiting. Mia thought the visitor looked like a careful birdwatcher. He carried binoculars and a small field notebook. They walked together along the edge of tall grass.
A large heron suddenly rose from the reeds beside them. Its wide wings brushed the air and startled several rabbits. The rabbits sprinted across the path and struck Mia's basket. Beans bounced out and rolled toward the pond bank. Wet ground became slippery, and Mia nearly fell forward. The birdwatcher dropped his notebook and grabbed her elbow quickly. Both laughed while gathering the plentiful beans from the mud. Mia placed the last bean back into the basket. Water splashed again as the heron glided across the pond. They watched until the bird settled on a distant log. Mia lifted the basket and walked toward the kitchen door.
