Morning light lay over the calm pond.

Lina carried her sketchbook and small paint box. Her goal was simple: draw the white egret today. She noted its long wings and slow, proud walk. A soft splash sounded at regular frequency near the reeds. The bird stood still, watching tiny silver fish. Lina sat on a flat stone and began.

A sudden gust lifted her unused paper from the box. The sheet flew, brushed the water, and slapped the pond. Rings spread fast; startled frogs jumped; ripples reached the egret. The migratory bird flapped upward, knocking Lina’s paint cup over. Green water mixed with yellow paint and flowed across her drawing. Lina stared at the messy page and breathed out slowly. One bold stain showed the clear curve of an egret neck. A smile formed; her quick decision was to keep the mark. She added thin lines, and the shape became gentle feathers. The unexpected outcome lifted her shoulders and brightened her eyes. She fixed the wet page on the board.
