The Marbles Escape- 適合初級的英語短篇故事

Morning light filled the small yard.

Liam carried a wooden box toward the old apple tree. He wanted to hang a red lantern above the picnic rug. No ladder waited, so the only way was the box. He placed it under a high branch and climbed carefully. The box shook on loose soil and tilted to one corner. Marbles hidden inside rolled out and scattered over the grass. His foot met them, slipped, and he tumbled onto soft clover.

He sat up and watched the bright marbles stop rolling. He soon thought of a new idea. Liam turned the box upside down and pressed the corners flat. The wide base gave steady support against the ground. He stepped again, stood taller, and reached the branch with ease. String looped, and the lantern rested among a gathering of leaves. Soft red light spread over cups, plates, and the quiet rug. He closed the gate and walked toward the kitchen.

清晨的光線灑滿小院。

Liam 抬著一個木箱走向老蘋果樹。他想把一盞紅色燈籠掛在野餐墊上方。院子裡沒有梯子，所以唯一的辦法就是用木箱。他把箱子放在高枝下，小心地往上爬。箱子在鬆軟的土上晃動，然後向一邊傾倒。箱子裡藏著的彈珠滾出來，散落在草地上。他的腳踩到彈珠，滑了一下，跌進柔軟的三葉草。

他坐起來，看著亮晶晶的彈珠停下滾動。他很快有了新點子。Liam 把箱子倒過來，用力壓平四角。寬闊的底面穩穩支撐在地面上。他再次踏上去，站得更高，輕鬆碰到樹枝。繩子繞好後，燈籠安穩地停在一叢聚集的葉子間。柔和的紅光灑在杯子、盤子和安靜的墊子上。他關上院門，走向廚房。
