Balloon, Bottle, and the Thirsty Kitten- 適合初學者的英語短篇故事

A yellow balloon drifts above Ruby’s wrist. She stands by a wooden fence on the farm. Warm sunlight rests on the rails. The air smells of grass. Inside, a small kitten noses an empty stone bowl. It cannot drink. Ruby lifts a silver bottle from the ground. Rafe kneels beside her; a whistle hangs nearby. Rafe says, "All set."

Ruby pushes the bottle through a rail gap. The metal lip sticks. She twists the cap off. Clear water pours into the bowl. The kitten laps quickly. Sudden wind tugs the balloon loose. It bumps the fence and floats higher. Ruby watches it sail over the field. Water now rings; ripples circle the rim.
