She blinks.

She taps the water glass.

A bright ring jumps outward.

Ruby pats a stuffed bear.

Its soft ear flips back.

Dust of every sort glows upward.

Voices talk in the hall.

A curtain edge brushes her arm.

Lines of shadow jump on wall.

The open door marks an exit.

Ruby nudges the pencil cup lightly.

Pencils jump, clack, then rest.

Colours line beside the cup.

She presses the round wooden block.

A dull thud rolls under bedding.

Light inches toward Ruby's pillow.
