English 原文
Lyra paused by the spinning rack of postcards near the entrance, where pale light fell across one side.
On that bright face, a thin strip along several edges looked lighter than the rest of each picture.
She turned the rack slowly, and the same faint border appeared on card after card in a quiet ring.
The shop’s staging had placed sunny summer meadows on the front, and winter scenes in shade near the wall.
Curious, she slid out two postcards, one from light and one from shade, and held them side by side.
Aligned together under the same light, one edge showed paler grass, like chalk brushed thinly on fabric.
She returned them, then ran her thumb down a field guide’s spine on the shelf and felt a crease.
She let the rack click softly and watched the cards settle back into their neat rows.
Out in the corridor, a breeze funneled between the hall and the trail door and cooled her cheeks.
Birdsong from a small speaker clicked off and on, and wood floors answered with soft thuds from passing steps.
Her parent stood near a tall panel in the exhibition hall, tracing a line across the map with a finger.
Lyra moved toward the observation tower, but a roped square held two families waiting by the closed gate.
A laminated card beside it showed six circles, and today’s row was filled with blue dots for this slot.
She waited at the rail, breathing slowly, and a small sigh slipped out before footsteps started down the stairs.
When the gate swung open, the group emptied the square, and Lyra stepped into the stairwell behind a rusted hinge.
Wind pressed steadily at the top landing, and the mounted telescope’s brass barrel felt cool against her palm.
She fed a coin into the slot, and the timer began ticking while the eyepiece shook during each gust.
At full zoom, the smallest body sway sent the view sliding past the meadow marker by a long stride.
Her trail guide flapped against the rail, and its corner crumpled under her thumb as she pinned the page.
For a moment she lifted her face from the eyepiece, then lowered it again and set both feet wider.
She pressed one elbow into the rail and her other hand against the barrel to cut the vibration.
Between two softer breaths of wind, the meadow sharpened, and the distant number post matched the dot on her guide.
Below the eyepiece, the bleached edges she had seen on postcards waited in her mind like a quiet clock.
Lyra braced both elbows on the rail and kept the telescope’s brass barrel steady under her hand.
