English 원문
Rubber matting pressed upward against Kane’s soles, giving a gentle bounce each time he shifted his weight near the swing set. Ella balanced beside him, her fingers tracing the smooth wooden wings of a small handcrafted item— a slender plane they had picked up at a flea market that morning. The plane was meant as a souvenir, yet its shape invited motion. Chains groaned overhead while bodies pumped through the air, and the slide nearby filled with children waiting in a curved line.
Kane eyed the busy ladder, then rocked back on his heels. Space opened for only a breath before another child scrambled up, so he and Ella wandered to the sandbox. A gust bent Ella’s knees; sand whipped over the plane and lodged inside its narrow fuselage. She crouched, shoulders tense, and used a bright plastic shovel to tap grains free. The tool nudged tiny clumps loose, but fine dust still clung. Rain began as scattered drops, adding weight to their shirts and darkening the sand. The slide emptied; children hurried under the climbing structure roof. Ella’s new insight about balance arrived through touch: wet wings would dive too quickly. She and Kane hurried toward the water fountain, where a steady stream rinsed the craft. The slender plane had been carved by patient hands, and water slid off its varnished surface.
Kane tucked away the damp shovel, then held the plane level. Rubber beneath the slide ladder now felt slick, and both friends moved carefully, knees flexing for grip. At the top, Ella released the toy. It swooped down the metal, gained speed on the glossy rain layer, and launched into open air. Gravity folded its glide sooner than expected, and the plane somersaulted onto the mat. Tiny rings of water trembled across the same rubber that had cushioned Kane’s first step.
