Quinn loves the soft stone click and leans closer.
He sets it on the base.
It wobbles.
It slides a little.
He turns it a bit.
He brushes a thin ridge flat.
He sets it again.
It settles still.
The uncle crouches beside the pile.
He holds another flat stone.
"Here is a flat one," the uncle says.
A small leaf falls onto the top.
It lands off-center.
The stack stays steady under it.
Dappled light spots the leaf.
The damp halo thins around the base.
