A faint mineral smell meets Dale's nose.
His forearms rest on the smooth wood.
The paper clay block shows many fingerprints.
Cool air touches his cheeks.
A finished piece sits on the tray.
It sits.
Its edge dries in the dry air.
Air dries it.
The rim turns rough and pale.
Dale looks for a tiny clay wing.
The clay block blocks his view.
He leans left to overcome the block.
His foot shifts on the chair rung.
The aunt dips a fingertip once.
A small round form gleams wet.
Warm sun thins the wet shine.
Shine thins.
A cool bead vanishes on top.
"I see the small round," she says.
Back at the tray, the edge is drier.
A pale ring widens on the wood.
Only bare tray wood shows in a thin crescent.
An older sibling passes the table end and peeks.
