Nội dung truyện
English Bản gốc
On a cold morning, frost covered the window above the wooden sill. Palmer crouched on the sill and pressed his paws to the grain. The heater under the sill gave a steady hum that warmed the air. A slow creak came from the pane when the house settled a little. Palmer's ears pivoted toward the sound, and his whiskers brushed the cold glass. A thin squeak ran along the surface and faded near the frame. In a dark patch, his reflection sat beside the white feathery frost. He moved one paw and touched a tiny splinter in the wood, then lifted it away. Warm air from the vent met a clean soap smell near the sink.
At the same window, Merritt stood close and breathed on the glass. The white softened across the pane, and a clear circle opened wide. A slow drip started under the circle and slid toward the frame. Merritt drew a smooth line through the circle with a fingertip. The finger made a high squeak that climbed along the pane slowly. New drops gathered at the lower edge and waited above the warm sill.
The long squeak sent a fine vibration through the glass and into the wood. The glass soap dish on the sill rattled and gave a tiny ring. Palmer shifted at the ring, and his front paw slipped into a small puddle of meltwater. Water cooled his pads, so he jerked back, and the paw tapped the dish. The dish chimed again, and Merritt's drawn line jumped into a small zigzag. Then both went on: the hum held, the pane creaked, Merritt traced new loops, and Palmer listened. A last drop tapped the puddle, and the pane creaked again.
Bản dịch

Cultural Connection -
