Yet the air inside felt thicker than expected, and his breath left small clouds on the lens.

The first attempt failed: a pigeon flapped across the frame, scattering dry leaves onto the bench. Milo brushed them away, but the lens had been smeared by the sudden wingbeat. He cleaned it, only to notice the battery indicator flashing red. If the battery had died completely, he would have lost the evening.
