Paper Plane Near the Fountain-

English 原文
Mila crossed the marble arch and stepped onto the wide plaza just after the bells finished their midday ring. A shallow basin stretched in front of her, its surface broken by a slender jet that sent glittering drops into the air. Behind it stood a bronze memorial to early aviators; wings cast in metal curved overhead, their aerodynamic lines catching sunlight. Vendors rolled carts along the edge, wheels rattling against stone, while a street musician coaxed a melodic phrase from a wooden flute that drifted above the hum of conversation.
She rested a sketch board on the basin’s low rim, hoping to capture the sculpture’s crisp balance of weight and lift. The first pencil mark snagged when a sudden gust tugged the paper’s corner. Mila pressed harder, but the board slipped, clapping against the rim and splashing her sleeve. She steadied it again; another swirl of wind flipped the top sheet completely over and folded one edge against the other. The crease dropped naturally, almost begging for an extra pinch at the nose. Her fingers followed the fold without thinking, and the page transformed into a narrow plane whose sharp angles carried a certain rough aesthetic charm.
A playful reflex sent the little craft gliding. It skimmed the fountain’s spray, banking left as droplets peppered its wings. For a breath it floated smoothly, then the city’s larger airflow met it. The plane rose, circled above a cluster of pigeons, dipped, and finally clipped the corner of a vendor’s striped canopy. The canvas bounced; a stack of tin cups toppled, ringing like tiny bells. Heads turned, not toward Mila but toward the faint commotion, and laughter rippled through the crowd.
The vendor lifted the paper plane, water beading along its crease, and placed it on the basin ledge where Mila stood. No scolding voice followed—only the flute’s tune weaving back into place. She opened the flattened sheet, traced the wet mark that curved across the pencil work, and redrew the interrupted line. The plaza regained its rhythm: carts rolled, droplets fell, and the bronze wings above the memorial rested in still sunlight.
