Light Above the Spilled Jar-

English 原文
Mira crossed the museum’s echoing marble hall with both hands steadying a slim wooden box. Renovation dust floated beneath the chandeliers while visitors drifted between scaffolds. Inside the box a glass jar held layered river sediment collected that morning; pale clay sat over specks of mica, darker grains pressed beneath as neat bands. The jar was meant for a side cabinet at the geology alcove before the afternoon tour started. Around her, crates of disparate fossils waited on trolleys, their labels fluttering when air vents engaged. Ahead, a technician wheeled a small generator; the faint bitterness of petrol followed its passage and slipped under Mira’s mask. A faint echo answered each step, as if the stone remembered earlier exhibitions now hidden behind tarpaulins. Mira adjusted her grip, testing the box’s weight once more before advancing.
Near a stretch of caution tape, the generator’s wheel snagged a ridge in the floor and jolted sideways. The sudden swerve nudged Mira’s elbow; the box tilted. She caught the lid yet the jar slid free, kissed the tile, and rolled. Glass survived the first spin but met a metal drain cover; a soft crack answered. A thin streak appeared, then earthy water seeped, fanning outward. Sediment swirled through the liquid, forming delicate currents across the white tiles. Visitors stepped back, shoes squeaking; gasps blended with the generator’s steady hum. Light from the skylight crossed the spreading pattern, revealing an unexpected map of river curves curling like the mosaic framed high above them. The scent of wet earth mixed with petrol above the tiles, creating an oddly familiar riverbank aroma.
Restoration staff hurried in, kneelers clattering as they lifted brushes and cloths. Instead of wiping at once, several crouched to compare the organic sketch on the floor with the tiled ceiling image. Hushed voices weighed the merit of preserving the accident; a conservator traced the outlines with a gloved finger, nodding toward an empty plinth nearby. Without formal agreement, hands moved in quiet rhythm: one person steadied the jar’s fractured rim with tape, another raised the plinth’s glass cover, a third adjusted lamps so projected reflections matched the ceiling. Disparate exhibits momentarily formed a single conversation: fossils, skylight, spilled river layers. When the last cloth dabbed the outer edge, the improvised display stood ready, and light from the skylight rested on the glass jar at the center of the hall.
