Bridge Under Noon Lights-

English 原文
Milo edged through the wide glass doors of the venue, balancing a narrow crate against his ribs. The atrium pulsed with conversations and tool-boxes clicking shut. Fellowship among rival teams buzzed in brief handshakes, swapped screwdrivers, and quick nods across tables. He slid the crate onto an empty surface and loosened the straps. Inside waited the model he had chosen to embark on months earlier: a double-level cantilever bridge stretching over a painted strip of blue acetate. Thin steel rods flickered under the skylights, and miniature streetlamps waited unlit along the deck.
A sudden clatter rolled across the floor. A skateboard, escaped from someone’s backpack, swerved beneath Milo’s table and clipped one leg. The table jolted; the crate lurched. Milo’s shoulders rose, and both hands shot forward just in time. The lid banged against his thumb before toppling onto the tiles. A ferocious gust from the service door followed, lifting the acetate river and flipping it like a ribbon. Sheets of entry paperwork rustled along nearby benches, and several contestants leaned over to steady their own displays. The bridge trembled, its longest span vibrating in the air now that the crate lay open.
Milo crouched, palms flat against the table edge, waiting for the skateboard’s owner to retrieve the runaway board. Wheels scraped once more, then silence settled. He guided the acetate back into place, pressing each corner until it lay smooth again. The bridge still quivered; the left-hand cantilever arm had slid half a centimeter out of alignment. He nudged the joint with a wooden dowel, checking clearances where the beams crossed. One lamp post listed, so he rotated its base until the tiny bulb pointed upright. Around him the atrium movement slowed; chatter thinned as teams stepped back from their work. Milo eased the crate panels under the table, wiped faint dust from the roadway, and let his shoulders loosen. The bridge rested on the polished table, lights glinting along its steel-gray spine.
