The Orange Shell- 適合初級的英語短篇故事

Leo walked along the beach during a warm afternoon.

His small bucket bumped against his knee with each step.

He wanted a bright shell for the school nature table.

Soft sand slid between his toes and left tiny trails.

A sea breeze carried a tasty smell from nearby snacks.

Leo paused and sniffed, but his search continued quickly.

Under a smooth rock he spotted an orange shine.

He reached down and lifted the heavy shape.

Suddenly a crab stuck its claw from the shell.

The claw snapped close to his thumb and startled him.

Leo jumped back and dropped the shell into the bucket.

The bucket tipped over and rolled down a small dune.

Wet sand spilled out and buried his left sandal.

He pulled hard, but the strap stayed under the sand.

He grabbed the handle and dragged the bucket uphill again.

The crab crawled out and scurried toward the water.

It vanished between foamy waves, leaving the shell behind.

Leo brushed sand away and examined the empty shell again.

His search saw success at last.

It shone clean and bright under the afternoon light.

He placed the shell in his pocket and walked on.

Leo 拂去沙子，再次檢視空貝殼。

貝殼在午後陽光下乾淨又明亮。

他把貝殼放進口袋，繼續向前走。
