Leah walked across a sunny field with a small basket. She wanted bright flowers for the table at home. Tall grass brushed her knees and made a soft rustle. Warm sunlight rested on her shoulders. A red poppy stood alone near a flat stone. She bent, reached, and placed the poppy inside the basket. Sudden wind rolled over the field and pressed her hat. The basket flipped, and petals danced over green blades. One clever bee rose from the flowers and circled her shoes.

Leah stepped back; her elbow knocked a loose stone behind her. The stone rolled downhill and bumped against an old tin pail. The pail clanged, then settled beside a patch of low clover. Leah knelt to gather the fallen flowers with quick hands. Between two stems, she saw a tiny four leaf sprout. Her eyebrows lifted; the new shape gave her a bright expression. The small sprout looked lucky beside the scattered red petals. She placed the sprout inside her pocket and packed the basket. Petals rested safely, and the clever bee moved toward another flower. Leah straightened, balanced the basket, and walked toward the lane. Footsteps tapped over dry earth until the field ended at a gate. She pushed the wooden gate fully open.
