Soft morning light touched the wooden floor. Lily placed a wide glass jar on the low table. She planned to fill it with bright marbles. The jar would become a colorful desk lamp later. A small radio played a joyful tune beside her. Warm air drifted from the vent under the window. The tune ended with a peaceful hum that faded slowly.

Suddenly, her cat Milo jumped onto the table edge. Milo's paw kicked the marble pouch toward the floor. The pouch opened and countless marbles scattered across the tiles. Several marbles rolled under a small wooden stool. One bright red marble struck the stool's leg and changed its balance. The stool tipped forward and pushed a dusty box off a shelf. The box landed open, and a tiny silver whistle slid out.

Lily chased the rolling whistle before it reached the heater. She lifted it and noticed a small date on the side. The metal felt warm from its short flight. The year matched Grandpa's birthday, a clear reminder of train afternoons. Lily tied the whistle to string and dropped it inside. She gathered the remaining marbles and added them around the whistle. Colored glass covered the silver shape and kept it safe. At last, she placed the finished jar under the lamp stand.
