The Knot That Loosened-

English 原文
Felix crouched on the narrow pier while a wide-eyed gull blinked from the rail above him. A flat-bottom boat rocked against a mossy mooring post, and the rope holding it had been coiled in uneven loops that crossed each other like tangled noodles. He wanted to glide across the canal toward an old wooden platform on the opposite bank, yet his first tug only tightened the mess. Water slapped the pier; a loose oar drifted away and bumped the hull, adding a hollow knock.
He pulled again, and the outer loops loosened, but the inner strand clung to a splinter. If he had checked the knots earlier, the rope would have slipped free, he told himself while rubbing a palm that now carried thin green smudges. Switching tactics, he threaded a thin plank between the coils and twisted; the wood creaked, then snapped, forcing him to step back as the plank splashed into the canal. Wind pressed the boat sideways and let the hull surpass the pier’s edge, so every movement gave him less room to navigate. He grabbed the oar that had returned on a small wave and used its handle to lift the stubborn strand over the splinter.
The rope slid at last, yet the sudden freedom spun the boat half a turn, and Felix dropped the oar to steady the hull with one shoe on the wet planks. A soft pop came from below: an unseen pocket of air escaped, rocking the craft again. When the motion settled, the boat drifted a short meter away and rested against a patch of floating leaves that hid a long crack running along its side. The untied boat rested against the silent pier.
