Cool air drifted down from the vents; faint oil mixed with metal dust hung near the ceiling. They had been asked yesterday to finish the display, yet the final bracket remained empty. Mira set a minimal toolbox on the floor and stretched a folding ladder beneath the hanging structure. Leo scanned the chain of planets that already spun gently, nudged by the ventilation. One crooked link rattled against another, making the alignment look uneven. Together they aimed to restore order before the first group of visitors entered the building.

Climbing first, Leo tried to press the tiny sphere onto its pin, but the metal edge had warped overnight. The sphere slipped, rolled along the beam, and thudded against a junction box beyond his reach. Mira steadied the ladder; her shoulders tightened as tools clinked in the tray. They shifted the ladder closer, yet a ceiling speaker blocked the new angle. If the architect had placed the speaker two centimeters left, their task would have finished already. Instead, the pair detached a longer rod from the minimal toolkit and fashioned a makeshift hook. The hook snagged the runaway sphere, though its glossy surface rattled against the rod and nearly dropped again.

With the sphere finally recovered, Leo noticed the crooked link still ruined the orbital spacing. He traced the chain upward and found a cracked plastic connector acting like a missing keystone in an arch. The connector sat in isolation behind a mirrored panel, invisible from the floor. Their first attempt to unscrew it failed; the threads were clogged with dried paint. Mira held the display steady while Leo tapped the connector with a screwdriver handle until flakes broke away. On the second turn the piece loosened, and the planets slid into even distance. The hall lights dimmed for the overnight programme test. Above them, nine coloured spheres rested in silent alignment against the dim rafters.
