Milo carried a small notebook across the quiet orchard. Today, Milo acted like a careful scientist in the field. He planned to study the stream behind the last apple row. Soft morning light fell across the wet grass. His goal needed one clear sample for his school science fair. The glass bottle swung gently inside his backpack. Loose stones scattered under his shoe and changed his stride.

One sudden slip sent the bottle rolling toward a wooden trough. The bottle struck the trough, which tipped toward a narrow ditch. Water from an old hose rushed in and filled the ditch. The flow splashed over new soil, showing parts of the water cycle. Milo jumped forward and caught the bottle. Warmth from the fresh water spread across his fingers. He knelt, dipped the bottle, and watched clear drops collect inside. Behind him, the trough rested upside down and the ditch kept flowing. Milo closed his notebook and walked back through the orchard.
