Quiet light filled the wide room.

Milo pushed open the village library door with care. Tall wooden shelves reached toward the ceiling. Near a low table, a farmer read a seed catalog. Milo wanted a magnificent picture book about tiny insects.

He spotted it high above, just under a hanging plant. He pulled a small stool closer and climbed carefully. The stool shook; his elbow touched the clay pot. The plant tipped, and loose soil showered the floor. The falling pot struck a stack of thin maps. Maps slid down, brushing the farmer’s boot. The farmer jumped back; his wide hat flew upward. The hat landed softly on the picture book’s spine. Milo laughed, grabbed the wonderful book, and steadied the pot. A small silver coin rolled from the spilled soil. It circled twice, then slipped under a nearby shelf. The library grew quiet again as pages settled. Milo placed the steady plant on the windowsill.
