When the Table Moved- 適合初級的英語短篇故事

Soft morning light filled the small hall.

Milo carried a box toward the refreshment table.

The evening party for one special guest started at sunset.

Cups and juice were important, so Milo hurried.

A long wooden table blocked the supply closet door.

Milo pushed hard, but the table stayed still.

He paused, curious about the table’s strange weight.

He tapped the side; a hollow thump echoed.

Milo crouched and found small grey wheels under each leg.

A thin metal bar held the wheels above the floor.

He lifted the bar; the wheels dropped without sound.

The table rolled forward easily and hit a stack of chairs.

The chairs slid apart, and balloons drifted from behind them.

Colorful shapes bounced across the hall toward the stage.

Now the supply closet stood clear, and Milo laughed softly.

He checked his watch; time remained for setting the cups.

Some balloons rose toward the stage lights above the venue.

Milo grabbed the box again and walked toward the open space.
