After the Shutter Began to Fall-

English 原文
Cole shoved the storeroom door wider and hurried along the narrow aisle. A rolling metal shutter behind him already hummed downward; its edge hovered hand-high from the floor and kept sinking, second by second. Reaching the first turn, he met a pile of loose cartons that had tipped from a handtruck. One carton spun, struck a shelf, and lodged there, sealing the straight path. A deep smear of oil from a split bottle glistened under the strewn lids, making the floor slick. Warm air mixed with a peculiar rubber odor from old gloves stacked nearby, stinging his nose. The shutter clanged again; daylight under it thinned to two palms.
He scanned the jumble. A safer path curled left, between glass jars, yet oil coated that narrow lane. A riskier route zig-zagged over the toppled handtruck: one quick climb but higher chance of slipping. He pinched the cart’s tilted handle, levered himself upward, and vaulted across the top. The cart rocked from the momentum and a single carton tumbled, clipping his ankle. A tiny beetle crawled from a tear in the soggy cardboard, offering an odd clue that the box held grain rather than nails. The shutter struck the concrete again; only a boot-high gap remained. Cole lunged, but the sliding carton dragged his heel. His sock tore, and shoestrings dangled loose behind him as he stretched an arm toward the light. He landed short; the gap narrowed to barely two fingers. A low grind continued overhead while scuff marks traced his slip on the oil.
