English 原文
A sharp metallic ping bounced off the platform roof. The sound echoed between steel columns before slipping into the heater’s long hum. Kira knelt near a bench, tapping a small brass fork against a coin, then holding it beside her green journal. She waited for the vibration to fade so she could note the length of each ring. A ginger cat watched from the luggage scale, ears twitching at every new tone. Overhead, a network of old loudspeakers creaked as cold air moved through the station. Farther along, a retired art teacher and two students compared sketches, their voices staying low to avoid covering the delicate sounds.
A different rhythm ran above Kira’s careful experiment. The loudspeakers popped, then spilled a test whistle that slid up in pitch and rolled across the corrugated roof. Each burst rattled a loose beam, sending thin dust onto the bench. The cat flinched and padded closer to Kira, its claws ticking on the tile. She tried to strike the fork again, yet the overlapping noise erased the gentle resonance before she could measure it. She shifted toward a pillar, hoping thicker concrete would muffle the interference, but the speaker answered with multiple bursts even louder than before.
The next blast arrived sooner than anyone expected. The cat sprang sideways, its tail sweeping Kira’s fork and bottle from the bench; the fork hit the tile with a bright ring, the bottle rolled, bumping the pillar and adding a hollow clang to the chaos. Dust scattered upward, and the loudspeaker’s own tone wavered, the surprise vibration warping its final note into a tired croak. Kira chased the fork, but it slid under the bench beyond her reach. She wrote a short line about the accident in her journal, smudging the page with gray powder. The speaker crackled again, drowning the faint tone that lingered beneath the bench.
