Sudden Wind over the Kite-

English 原文
Viola trotted along the park’s winding gravel lane, balancing a slim case under one elbow. She stepped into the bench area near the fountain and drew out a kite frame built from pale bamboo ribs, eager to unwrap the folded fabric before clouds thickened above the pond bank. Golden blades of grass leaned across the stone edge, glowing against the copper fountain rim. When she tugged the string, it snagged; several loops had fused into a stiff knot, and the first pull only tightened it. Wind shifted, carrying children’s laughter from the playground edge and sprinkling amber leaves across her shoes.
She tried picking at the knot with her fingernails, yet the twist held firm. A piece of advice she had kept from her grandfather circled back: slow turns loosen snarls better than force. She bent a fallen twig from a spreading yew beside the bench and probed the tangle, but the string merely twisted harder around the bamboo spar. Across the walking path, Cruz approached, arms full of paper plates left from a family reunion under the gazebo. He set the stack aside and knelt. Between them, the knot had been hidden beneath an outer loop; two pairs of hands now worked in alternating pulls and rotations, yet the stubborn coil resisted.
A sudden drop in temperature rolled through the park, and ochre clouds chased the sunlight away. A stronger gust flipped the kite from their grip; it skimmed the amber fountain water and landed on the stone lip with a wet slap. Cruz lunged first, steadying the frame while Viola lifted the soaked fabric clear. The knot, softened by water, loosened at last, leaving the string free but the kite too damp for flight. They spread it across the bench rail to dry as wind continued to turn chilly. Overhead, a grey squirrel darted along the yew branch, knocked loose a shower of rust-colored needles, and dashed toward the playground.
