The Escaped Marbles- 適合初級的英語短篇故事

Warm air filled the small shed.

Finn wanted a tin container on the highest shelf. He pushed a low stool under the shelf edge. The floor felt smooth because humidity clung to the wood. His sneakers slipped and the stool slid away sideways. The moving stool bumped a tall bamboo pole nearby. The pole tipped and struck an empty paint can. The can rolled, rang, and stopped near his ankle.

A torn magazine lay open, showing a pride of lions. Finn laid a rough towel across the shiny boards. The cloth gripped the floor and kept the stool steady. He set the fallen bamboo pole upright to assist his balance. Next, he climbed again and reached toward the tin container. His fingers touched the lid, and he lifted carefully. Suddenly, the top popped free and marbles poured out. The bright spheres bounced, struck the can, and scattered everywhere. Several marbles rolled under a cabinet and stayed out of sight.

溫暖的空氣充滿這間小木屋。

Finn 想拿到最高層架上的錫罐。他把一張小凳推到架子前。因為潮氣黏在木板上，地面變得光滑，他的運動鞋打滑，小凳斜著滑開。滑動的凳子碰到旁邊的竹竿。竹竿傾倒，撞到一個空油漆罐。油漆罐滾動、撞響，最後停在他腳踝旁。

一本破舊雜誌翻開在地面，頁面上是一群雄獅。Finn 把一條粗毛巾鋪在光滑的地板上。布料抓住地面，讓小凳再次穩固。他把倒下的竹竿豎起，幫助自己保持平衡。接著，他再次爬上去，伸手取那個錫罐。他的指尖碰到蓋子，小心地掀起。忽然，蓋子彈開，彈珠全部傾瀉而出。閃亮的小球彈跳、撞到油漆罐後向四處散開。有些彈珠滾到櫃子底下，再也看不見。
