The Last Drop Before the Ripple-

English 原文
Plop after plop, the faucet struck the steel sink, sketching a slow rhythm across the kitchen while Finn steadied the almost-empty bottle of blue dye. He had noticed that the stalk in the middle glass now showed only a faint stripe; three fresh drops were needed before he could measure height with the ruler beside the small easel that held his notebook. A radiant band of sunlight, thrown by the distant luminary outside the window, warmed the glass row unevenly and sped the central climb. Finn tipped the bottle once—one drop slid in and swirled, but the water remained pale. He tipped again; a second drop sank like ink, yet the leaf veins still looked ghostly.
The pencil closest to his elbow had been placed at a thoughtful angle earlier, leaving a narrow path for notes, but the bottle’s hard tilt nudged it. The pencil rolled, struck the magnifying glass, and the lens pivoted forward. Its metal rim tapped the blue glass, setting a ripple that wobbled the celery stalk. Tiny dye flecks leaped from the surface, scattering on the towel like a miniature galaxy. Finn’s free hand shot out; his palm pressed the glass upright before it could topple into its red neighbour. At the same instant he squeezed the bottle a final time. A third, final bead emerged, crossed the meniscus, and the solution darkened in one clear shift, the threshold finally reached.
The sudden weight change stilled the stalk, yet the earlier wave slid along its ribs, carrying colour toward the highest leaves. Finn slid a folded corner of towel under the restless magnifying glass, blocking any further slide, then turned the dye container upside down—nothing more would come. Inside the blue glass, a thin wave continued to glide toward the rim while the bottle hung empty above the towel.
