English 原文
The slide's silver flank shone in direct light, yet the metal felt cooler than the shaded bench rail beside it. Yves knelt on the blue-grey rubber mat at the sandbox edge, a small plastic bucket between his knees. Greta crouched opposite him, tracing a straight path across the sand with a twig. Their plan carried two parts: a low tunnel wide enough for marbles to roll through, and a sloping ramp leading from the tunnel mouth to the wooden frame. A ridge had been pressed flat by earlier visitors, so they pushed fresh grains over it. Yves had already packed a pale arch, but when his knuckles tapped the curve, a crumbly hiss answered. Damp sand from the unseen pipe seeped upward and the arch began to falter. He scooped at once, firming the roof with drier sand lifted from the sun-lit side.
While Yves secured the roof, Greta fetched handfuls for the ramp. She fumbled with the stiff sieve, shaking particles that glittered like frost. Each trip stole more loose sand from the slope, and its angle slackened until the marble stalled halfway. Evening shadows stretched, tinting the pit steel-grey. Greta nudged the marble again; it merely twitched. Their fix for the tunnel had thinned the ramp. They exchanged a glance, then reacted without words. Greta poured a narrow ribbon of the heavier, damp mixture onto the sagging ramp. Yves pressed it flat with the bucket base, trading length for strength; the slope shortened, but its surface gained weight and grip. If the sand stays firm, the marble will still travel, though the ride finishes sooner.
As dusk drew a muted halo around the playground lamps, they released the marble. It rolled through the blue shadowed tunnel, slipped down the stout ramp, and stopped just inside the frame, leaving both parts standing. A stray gust crossed the box and exposed a dark speck near the tunnel exit. Yves brushed it clear, revealing a tiny clay mole no bigger than his thumb. The figurine, freed by chance, caught the last silver-blue glow along its smooth back.
