English 原文
Four markers had been lined up beneath the whiteboard when Finn entered the small meeting room after lunch. The oval table felt smooth and cool against his wrist while he unpacked a slim laptop from his canvas knapsack. He loosened the strap of one sandal that had rubbed his heel during the walk from reception. Afternoon light formed a glimmering stripe over the glossy board, and the smell of dry ink circled quietly in the air. The carpet beyond the doorway gave a slight static nip to his ankle whenever the sandal brushed its edge. Finn planned to transform the empty surface into three neat columns before the senior analyst arrived: tasks, people, and deadlines. He shook the first marker, heard a faint rattle, and tested it on a corner square. A strong, even line appeared across the corner square, giving him confidence as he raised the marker toward the centre.
The second marker produced only a faint ghost of blue, and its tip scraped dry across the glossy surface. He swapped to the third, but after two letters the colour thinned until it almost matched the board’s pale reflection. A small pocket of air cooled his neck as the projector fan turned, reminding him that minutes, like ink, were slipping. Instead of three full columns, he decided to keep only keywords, trusting the listeners to supply details during discussion. He wiped part of the first line with the felt eraser, its grainy texture grazing his palm, and shortened the heading. From his knapsack he pulled a crunchy cereal bar, broke it in two, and tucked one piece beside the dwindling markers. A sugar trace on his fingertips made the barrel easier to grip, and the final marker formed five bold letters before fading. He stepped back, crumbs on his sleeve, while the projector image brightened over the trimmed list and the fan continued to whirl.
