The Hedge Ball Rescue- 適合初學者的英語短篇故事

A yellow ball rolls under the hedge. Thalia reaches through the narrow space. Her fingers touch only air. Paloma stands near the wooden bench. A squirrel worries a loose feather beside the trunk. Quacking drifts from the shallow pond. The sun is warm. A thin mud line marks one stepping stone.

Paloma picks a long twig. She slides to the gap. First attempt slips; the twig skids off the ball. They try again. Paloma shifts her knees. She braves the scratchy hedge and pushes farther. She hooks the ball and pulls. The ball bumps free and rolls back. Thalia grabs it and smiles. "Thanks!" bursts from her. Paloma dusts grass from her palms. Thalia dribbles the ball toward the swing.
