Robin at the Snow Fort Wall-

English 原文
A crescent of six pale snow bricks curved around the yard maple; six blank hollows still awaited their packed twins.
A robin landed on the damp upper edge, the sharp mineral scent of crushed ice bursting upward as its claws tapped the surface.
Alma pressed a mould into the drift beside the fence, breathing through a scarf that smelled of wet cotton and faint tea leaves, while Finn stomped the interior floor where a wool-rich steam rose from his gloves.
Fresh flakes carried a metallic tang, and the luminous yard tasted almost chalky on every inward breath; the air felt exhilarating across their tongues, as if each lungful rinsed away autumn smoke.
The bird hopped closer to a forgotten crust near the porch, pecking a tiny harvest of seeds and crumbs, then paused, tilting its head toward the unfinished entrance gap.
Alma had noticed its chest feathers quiver; perseverance showed in each steady hop against the deepening snow that would soon persuade many birds to migrate farther south.
Without warning, the robin burst upward; its wingbeat pushed a dusty odor of loosened snow toward Alma’s face, and the startled bird skimmed beneath the porch roof, knocking the water bucket so that cold droplets splashed over the steps.
Alma followed, cheeks catching the acidic sting of windblown flakes, and lifted the bucket upright before a thin skin of ice could thicken; the brief chase left the fort unattended.
By the time she and Finn returned, a new layer of damp, heavy crystals had settled on the wall top, and the entrance sides sagged inward, releasing a sour, slushy smell where compressed layers had broken open.
If the snow softened again, the gap might close entirely, so Alma scooped denser, clay-smelling snow from the fence bank, while Finn fetched the shovel whose steel blade carried a coppery aroma.
While they worked, the robin fluttered back, this time tucking wisps of grass between two interior bricks; the children crouched, realising the bird had chosen the cool fort as a sheltered shelf rather than a feeding table.
Alma eased a fresh blue-white brick against the left edge inside the gap, and Finn steadied an older grey one on the right.
