The Single Clover in the Mirror Maze-

English 原文
Faye watched a square glass panel, cool and faintly fogged by earlier visitors’ breath, sit half a finger deeper than its mirrored neighbours, the recessed edge glowing pink under a rotating spotlight.
She stepped inside the corridor and added another layer to the maze’s confused surface: the soft pad of her palm joined dozens of fingerprints already scattered across the glass, while the satin ribbon from a nearby wedding stall fluttered at her wrist and brushed a chilly pane. At each junction she pressed a green paper clover against the surface to mark the way, trusting colour over judgment in a hall where sight tricked her at every turn. The clover pieces clung for a moment, then sagged in the maze’s damp heat; she replaced the first with a second, then a third, perseverance showing in the steady rhythm of her tap-and-stick routine.
The coloured beams cycled, tinting white glass gold; soon the path shimmered with too many clovers, each reflection spawning fresh copies until the real markers drowned in echoes. A dislodged gel inside a ceiling light gave a sudden jolt of blue that startled her into stillness. She exhaled, watched the breath turn the panel in front of her opaque, and caught her own image multiplying into a crowd. “Too much,” she whispered, voice absorbed by surrounding surfaces. She peeled the nearest clover free, the adhesive giving a small sigh, and wiped the foggy square with her sleeve. One wipe cleared both glass and mind; she kept only a single marker, tucking the spare shapes into her pocket before choosing again where to walk.
The corridor she selected looped back toward the recessed pane she had first noticed. Now, viewed with fewer distractions, the depth declared itself: the panel was not fixed but hinged. Faye pressed the edge; a hush of rubber gasket lifted, and the glass swung outward like a door. A warmer draft slipped past her cheeks, carrying popcorn scent and music bass from the fairground beyond. She grinned at a boy in the adjacent corridor mirrored a dozen times, then stepped through the opening and left the lone clover fluttering on the moving door behind her.
Outside, evening air kept flowing over the fairground, trading the maze’s chill for the slow warmth rising from sun-soaked asphalt and folding every tiny fingerprint into the wider breath of night.
