Crumbs That Realigned the Telescope-

English 原文
The brass eyepiece cooled by degrees, letting a faint mist curl from its ring while the telescope’s soft hum slid into a slower register. Beneath the red safelight the metal showed uneven patina, green staining gold in islands that drifted whenever Kellan breathed across the surface; one puff clouded the lens, the next cleared it.
A star cluster slipped from view and the mount’s slow-motion knob caught on some invisible ridge, refusing the final fraction of turn. Kellan pressed thumb and forefinger against the gear twice, then lifted them away. Floor panels creaked as Zola shifted near the table; an oval of bakeware rested between her gloves, still carrying oven warmth. She eased off the lid, revealing a fresh batch of small round biscuits, each sugared edge brighter than the next. "They waited until midnight for us," she murmured, words barely above the mount’s whir. Kellan nodded yet looked past her toward the slit, where an array of faint points scattered across the gap like grain on dark velvet.
He set the stubborn knob aside and reached for a biscuit instead. Crumbs fell in loose spirals onto the tray, arranging themselves across the silvery tin almost exactly as the missing cluster should have lined the finder reticle. His hand paused midair; the shape on the tin echoed the sky’s pattern, but mirrored. Body still, mind quiet, he rotated the bakeware a quarter turn, watching the crumbs slide until the figure matched his pencilled circle on the chart. Without forming any conclusion aloud, he walked back to the telescope, lifted the declination clamp, and reversed the earlier adjustment by the width of one fingernail.
A crisp point flared into focus, then three companions settled around it, steady as beads on a string. Kellan drew a single ring on the paper, graphite squeaking over fibres, and laid the pencil beside the chart before turning toward the dome door.
The empty stool rocked once, then stilled. The biscuit tin sat open, its crumb constellation fixed on the dull metal. Beneath the eyepiece, a fresh circle darkened where the pencil tip had pressed too hard, and the mount’s hum kept the same tempered rhythm against the floorplate.
