What floats in the light?

Gwen sits on the bed. She hugs a soft pillow. Sunlight is warm. Tiny specks drift in the bright beam.

Gwen slides down and follows the slow drift. Her hands hang at her sides. The speck moves to the low shelf. She crouches by the books. A page shows a green park. On the page, a girl runs. A small puppy trots beside her. A stuffed puppy sits in a row here. The row smells like clean laundry.

The speck slips into a dry gap. Two books sit close together. Gwen cannot see it. She kneels lower and peeks through the gap. Her toe taps the round wooden block. It rolls a little and clacks. The pencils tap inside their cup. A soft clap comes from the hall. "Good morning, Gwen," a voice says. A hand waves in.

The speck floats out toward the window. Gwen stands at the glass and watches. The window has a faint wood smell. The sunbeam slides up the bed frame. The speck lifts higher near the swaying curtain. Gwen stands still on the thick rug. Footsteps tap away down the bright hall.

那一點又飄出來，朝窗邊滑去。格溫站在玻璃前看著。窗邊有淡淡的木頭味。陽光帶著光帶往床架上移。那一點在輕搖的窗簾旁升高後淡去。格溫站在厚實的地毯上不動。走廊的腳步聲沿著明亮的走道遠去。
