"The path bends near the tall tree."

Orion stepped off the path onto short grass. He and Emory took a slow stroll in the park. A small bag hung from Orion’s shoulder.

Cool air moved under the wide leaves. A woodpecker tapped on a trunk near the path. They wanted to sit and drink some water.

A long bench stood by the tree roots. Orion stepped toward it, and a loose tile rocked. His foot slid, and his hand bumped the bag. The bottle fell, rolled under the bench, and rattled. A squirrel shot from the leaves and dashed aside. Dry leaves lifted and then settled around the bench legs.

Orion knelt, but the bench leg blocked his reach. Emory moved to the other side and crouched low. He stretched an arm along the ground. "I can reach from this side," Emory said. The squirrel darted back and bumped the rolling bottle. It rolled toward Orion, and his fingers hooked it. He set the bottle upright, away from the loose tile. Both kids sat on the open end of the bench. The woodpecker tapped on the bark again.
