Wet grass smell reaches Miles's nose.
His father sits on the dry bench.
A small cup steams on it.
Cool mist touches his cheek.
Steam drifts.
Miles kneels at the path edge.
His palms rest on the flat stone.
Its face is smooth and cool.
A bright rim runs under the light.
Beside it, an older footprint is pale.
A fresh one is dark.
He leans toward a low spider web.
A line of dew beads hangs.
His breath reaches it.
The line blurs and trembles.
He steps back, afraid.
He holds his breath and waits.
The neat line grows clear again.
A high note pings from the gate post.
A small speaker sits on the post.
A worker stands by the rail.
Their sleeve brushes the wet top.
"Tea is warm," the father says.
Dew beads glint along the silk.
