Steam rises from the covered pot.
Steam drifts.
A cinnamon smell lifts near the shelf.
Floyd leans on the windowsill.
His palm rests on warm wood.
Fine grain lines press his skin.
A pale faded streak stays.
A fresh wet ring darkens beside.
He takes one short step.
He sets a small photo down.
The sill is slightly damp.
The photo will not balance.
It tilts toward the glass.
It wobbles.
He slides it to the frame.
The edge meets the rail.
Now the photo holds balance.
The aunt arranges two yellow lemons.
She says, "I set them here."
Floyd taps the wooden spoon.
Dust puffs.
Flour specks mix and puff.
He touches the cool glass jar.
His face reflects on the fog.
He presses one fingertip there.
A clear oval grows slowly.
Steam meets the glass and thins.
